The Hillsborough County
Sheriff's Office is a national leader when it comes to
accreditation, a recognized standards for law enforcement
agencies around the country. In 1986 the Sheriff's
Office was the first sheriff's agency in Florida (and third
in the nation) to be accredited by the Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). In
1991, HCSO was the nation's first agency to
earn ''unconditional'' re-accreditation. HCSO has been named
a "flagship'' agency among law enforcement agencies in the
United States.
Accreditation standards form the basis for providing the
Sheriff and his staff a proven management system of written
directives, sound tracking guidelines, clearly defined lines
of authority, and routine reports that support decision
making and resource allocation. Adherence to the standards
established by CALEA and CFA necessitates periodic,
in-depth, review of all department operations and
components. This continuing process allows the agency to
change and evolve along with the needs of our community.
The citizens of Hillsborough County are assured of a
continued level of professionalism through the accreditation
process.
Congratulations to the men and women of the Hillsborough
County Sheriff's Office! |
